The Consorci actively monitors new trends and aims to keep in close and constant touch with the business world so it can develop innovative projects with an eye to the future. As manager of the Zona Franca Industrial Estate, one of the country’s biggest, with some 300 companies, it must provide tools to help companies manage their daily operations.
The Plataforma de Serveis (Service Platform) was created to help companies to continuously improve, offering them a range of services designed for achieving excellence in the management of environmental and safety issues, with regard to both their employees and their assets.
These services, which are detailed below, are a very useful tool and provide a clear advantage for the efficient management of a company.
• Environmental services
Companies can contract an integrated management service under which the platform provides environmental advice and acts as an intermediary with government agencies. The main services offered are:
-Joint Waste Management System
The main objective is to manage industrial waste correctly and to ensure key environmental regulations are respected.
This innovative model has been recognised by the European Union as fitting the requirements of its Life+08 Environmental programme, which is providing co-financing for the Service during 2010-2012.

• Joint occupational risk prevention services
Taking advantage of the fact that many companies are located close together on the industrial estate, the platform set up a joint occupational risk prevention service in order to ensure the efficient use of technical, human and material resources, with lower costs compared to externally provided risk prevention services. It covers three specialist technical areas: safety at work, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics and applied psychosociology.
• Work-related accidents insurance service
The Platform has reached an agreement with MC Mutual to propose it as the recommended accident insurance service on the industrial estate. Its local premises and teams are seen as an advantage.
• Asset security services
To improve security, the industrial estate offers a centralised alarm, key custody and immediate response service.
• Information technology services
Companies on the estate have access to favourable terms from Telefónica.
• 24-hour maintenance service
The company Electro-Jar provides a rapid, efficient maintenance service for companies’ premises. Finally, in 2008, the Platform, working with the Parc Tecnològic del Vallès, set up the first technology information service for an industrial estate in Catalonia. This service gives companies on the estate access to regular information and news on grants, tender processes concerning companies and professionals working in technology and innovation.
